‘Sigil’ (Working Title) is an original work-in-progress fantasy novel featuring a character driven story, thematic worldbuilding, and a complex hard magic system. It follows a young physician-in-training who finds himself dragged from one of the last free bastions of humanity and his own delusions of grandeur into a world scarred by magic, and a ‘painslave’ who finds her fate unintentionally tied to his, a young woman who’s suffering has been cultivated as a magical power source by the very eldritch monstrosities responsible for throwing the world into a new dark age. Together, and with some unlikely allies, they must struggle to survive and retain their humanity in a story of lost innocence, overcoming trauma and humanity’s ultimate insignificance in an uncaring universe.
